TLHS Class of 2026 collects big bucks for post-secondary ed

At the TLHS Awards Day on May 6, school counselor Shanna Martin announced a long list of scholarships offered to the graduating seniors by colleges. These students were awarded $85,069 in first-year scholarships and the possibility of $223,194 total when subsequent years are included.
Each year the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority presents scholarships to the top two students in the graduating class of each local high school. At the May 6 TLHS awards program, Ken White Eyes of the CRSTTA (middle) presented the salutatorian scholarship to Holden Gill (left) and the valedictorian scholarship to Hailey Roggow (right).

They are (Front l-r) Arianna Bieber, Gailup Bollinger, Geana Bollinger, Emma Johnston, Hailey Roggow, Maria Scherer; Back: Hayden Thompson, Braylen Hansen, Holden Gill, and Cullen Biegler. To receive the diploma students must complete four units of Language Arts, four units of Mathematics, four units of Science, three units of Social Studies, one unit of Fine Arts, and two units of Modern/Classical Language or Career & Technical Education.

O’Leary family awards two scholarships in memory of Jim

The family of the late James O’Leary presented scholarships and star quilts to Emma Johnston and Hayden Thompson of the TLHS Class of 2026. Jim graduated from Timber Lake High School in 2012.
