Area fire department respond to grass fire in Green Grass area

Fire departments from the BIA, Timber Lake Isabel, Eagle Butte, and Dupree responded to a grass fire in the Green Grass area on Friday, March 13.Also pitching in were area farmers, ranchers and friends.No cause for the blaze or how many acres were burned have been announced.

School board weighs options on new ADA-compliant playground

The school calendar for 202627 was adopted by the Timber Lake School Board at its March 11 meeting.The board also heard a presentation on a proposed new playground, hired a CTE teacher, and accepted resignations.Supt. Lori Enright recommended the calendar, saying that not everyone was in agreement.

Timber Lake School awarded Perkins Grant for CTE programs

The South Dakota Department of Education is awarding 2026 South Dakota Perkins Reserve Grants to nine South Daktoa schools, including Timber Lake and McLaughlin.Each school district will use the funds to provide major equipment upgrades for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
