To use a cliche, it was good news-bad news when David Reiss, executive director of the Central S.D. Enhancement District (CSDED), reported to the Dewey County Commission at their regular meeting on March 5. Reiss and his staff assist local governments with grant administration and other needs.

One person dead after house fire in Lemmon March 7

One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a fire broke out at a home in Lemmon early Saturday, March 7.Lemmon Fire and Rescue said in a news release that at 3:56 a.m. Saturday, crews responded to a reported structure fire.

March sobriety checkpoints planned

The South Dakota Highway Patrol will hold sobriety checkpoints in 15 counties throughout the month of March.In central South Dakota, checkpoints will be held in Hughes, Jones and Lyman counties.
