CRST council awards $2.8M in TECA grants

Acting on the recommendation of its Tribal Equitable Compensation Act (TECA) board, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) last week approved a resolution to issue $2.8 million in TECA grants to 10 projects or programs.

Combining December and January, these Dupree Elementary students were chosen following the Lakota value Honesty--(Wíčhota) which highlights the importance of truthfulness. These students strive to be honest in their work, admit mistakes, and uphold integrity in all interactions.

Dupree High School senior Jessa Pederson has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative Directors' Scholarship. The daughter of Brett and Cindy Pederson, she plans to attend Black Hills State University this fall to study Physical Education.

NWAS Spelling Contest on March 19

The Northwest Area Schools Spelling Contest is scheduled to be held Wednesday, March 19 at the Faith School. Students from Bison, Dupree, Eagle Butte, Faith, Harding County, Lemmon, McIntosh, Timber Lake, McLaughlin and Wakpala Schools plan to participate.
