Bullhead, Wakpala women to serve prison time for offenses

Two women were sentenced last Monday, June 23, to time in federal prison on separate offenses on Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.Both Kaitlyn Shantell Left Hand, 27, of Bullhead and Malania Rose Fast Horse, 25, of Wakpala were sentenced in U.S. District Court by Judge Charles B. Kornmann.

Timber Lake School summer reading program awards

The Timber Lake School Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” wrapped up June 25, with a total of 91 students enrolled in the program.

Eagle Butte native named executive director of PUC

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has appointed Eagle Butte native Leah Mohr as the agency’s new executive director. She has worked for the commission for the past 19 years, serving as the PUC’s deputy executive director since 2009.

Dewey County Library happenings

REMINDER: It’s time to register your child(ren) for the Dewey Co. Library’s Summer Reading Program. The dates are July 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 9:30 to 10:30 for ages 5 to 10. Your child or a family member must have a library card completed before July 9 to participate.
