Tribes win lawsuit stopping exploratory drilling at Pe’Sla

A federal judge last week ordered an immediate halt to all drilling in the high mountain meadow near Pe’Sla, the heart of Lakota, Dakota and Nakota creation stories.

Dry conditions worsen, state activates drought task force

Highway project now underway on Hwys. 34 and 73

Work began Monday, May 6 on an asphalt milling project on S.D. Highway 34 from three miles east of White Owl to the Ziebach County Line. Milling will then move to S.D. Highway 73 from Faith south 14 miles.Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and a pilot car during construction.
