Traversie, Hermes win city board seats

Ty Traversie and Tom Hermes won three-year terms on the Timber Lake City Board in Tuesday’s election.Traversie received 65 votes, Hermes 55, and Mike LaCompte 17.Hermes and LaCompte are incumbents.See next week’s Topic for the results of the Dupree School Board election.

CRST Council bans unauthorized recording devices in meetings

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Council last week passed a measure prohibiting all unauthorized recordings or broadcasts of Tribal Council meetings. Violation of the rule will result in Class B misdemeanor punishable by a $500 fine for each offense.

The genetic testing company 23andMe has entered bankruptcy and put its business up for sale, prompting new concerns over the protection of customer data.In a statement March 23, the company said genetic data privacy will be “an important consideration” during any potential sale.
