The Dupree High School FFA, advised by Mr. Doug Hofer, recently held its annual banquet and awards program. Left, the Dekalb Senior Ag Accomplishment Award was presented to Zoey De La Rosa by Mr. Hofer. Members of the organization also thanked Mr. Hofer and presented him with a star quilt.

Industrial hemp acreage increased in state in 2024

Industrial hemp farming continues to expand in South Dakota.The latest USDA hemp acreage report shows South Dakota farmers grew 3,900 acres of hemp in 2024. That’s up 22 percent from the previous year.However, the amount of hemp produced fell over 14 percent due to a drop in yield per acre.
