The school colors at Marcella LeBeau Elementary School, a new facility set to open in Sioux Falls for the 2025-26 school year, will be blue and green and students will compete as the LeBeau Bears.

Two more lakes join local waters on mercury pollution advisory list

State officials have added two more South Dakota lakes to the fish consumption advisory list after testing found elevated mercury levels in large walleye.The state announced Monday that Dry Lake #1 in Clark County and Lake Henry in Kingsbury County have been added to the list.

The South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) has launched the Maternal and Infant Health Task Force, a statewide initiative to reduce preventable deaths among mothers and infants and to improve health outcomes for families across South Dakota.

Building upgrade

Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative continues to make improvements to its headquarters facilities in Timber Lake. The latest project is an upgrade to an existing vehicle storage building (left) which is getting new siding and roof. North Central Steel Systems of Aberdeen is the contractor.

Highway Patrol announces May sobriety checkpoints

The South Dakota Highway Patrol has announced sobriety checkpoints will be conducted in 14 different counties during the month of May.
