Timber Lake girls run past Lemmon

Thanks to a scrappy defense and the hot shooting of junior point guard Carlie Lawrence, the Timber Lake Lady Panthers opened their 2021-22 season with a win last Friday, Dec. 10, downing the Lemmon Cowgirls 50-38.

Timber Lake traveled to Herreid-Selby on Tuesday, Dec. 14, and will be at Harding County on Thursday, Dec. 16. The Lady Panthers are matched up against the South Border Mustangs (Ashley-Wishek,ND) at 1:30 p.m. CST on Saturday in the Mobridge Rotary Classic.

Lawrence did her damage from long range as well as in the paint, scoring on multiple fast-break layups and knocking down four 3-pointers - including three in the first half - to lead all scorers with 27 points.

The Lady Panthers held a slim 21-17 advantage at halftime and outscored Lemmon 29-21 down the stretch, with Lawrence contributing nine points in the final stanza. Jasmine Nash finished with nine

Jasmine Nash finished with nine points for Timber Lake and Maci Maher added six. Abby Linderman scored five points, Tessa Goldade had two and McKenzi Vomacka pitched in one point.

Macy Schiley and Allie Kohn paced the Cowgirl attack with 10 points each.
