Wendy Lynn (Plummer) Carr

March 1, 1978 – February 8, 2025

Wendy Lynn (Plummer) Carr, 46, of Joplin, MO, formerly of Aberdeen, passed away on February 8, 2025, at Kansas City Hospice House. A memorial service celebrating her life was held Tuesday, February 18 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Inurnment followed at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Wendy was born on March 1, 1978, in Aberdeen to Dean and Michelle (Reed) Vilhauer. Her childhood was filled with adventure as her family moved frequently before settling in Aberdeen in 1992. She shared a special bond with her grandmother, Phyllis Reed, who taught her to cook and bake – skills that Wendy perfected over the years, delighting family and friends with her homemade German dishes and desserts.

A 1996 graduate of Central High School, Wendy was a student athletic manager for the basketball team. She later pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business at Northern State University. Wendy built a career at Progressive Financial Services. In 2023, she joined Menards and quickly advanced to Assistant Department Manager. In September 2023, Wendy moved to Missouri to be closer to her family.

Wendy was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, playing water volleyball at the YMCA, and taking on escape rooms and trivia nights with friends. She found joy in card games, singing gospel songs with loved ones, and spending countless hours at animal shelters. Wendy’s greatest joy was her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Stefanie (Andrew) Davis; granddaughters River and Nova; parents Dean and Michelle Vilhauer; siblings Jared (Lezlie) Vilhauer, Amy (Austin) Hoiland, and Leah (Jeremy) Schrempp; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
