Mass of Christian Burial for Violet Voller, 85 of Mobridge was held Monday, February 24, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Interment was under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Violet Regina Heinrich was born July 14, 1939, in Greeley, CO to Jacob and Lena (Delzer) Heinrich, the third of seven children. Due to the beginning of World War II, the family moved back to Isabel in the spring of 1942. Violet attended school in Isabel and was the valedictorian of the Class of 1957. She went on to attend summer school at Black Hills Teachers College (now Black Hills State University) in Spearfish. She taught three years at the Cundill School which was located nine miles south of Firesteel, and one year at the Ridgeland School at Trail City.
Violet was united in marriage with Andrew (Andy) Voller on December 26, 1961, at Isabel. The young couple purchased the Firesteel Store and operated it from January 1, 1962, until July 14, 1939 – February 11, 2025
February 28, 1967, when they bought a farm southwest of Timber Lake. While they lived in Firesteel their first child, Alan, was born in November of 1962 followed by Brenda in July of 1964. Twins Carmen and Carolyn joined the family in February of 1972.
Andy and Violet farmed and raised their family until October of 2009 when they moved to Mobridge, due to Andy’s declining health. Andy passed away on December 4, 2014.
Violet is survived by her children: Alan (Karen) Voller, Brenda Voller, Carmen (Doug) O’Neill, and Carolyn (Neal) DeRaad; grandchildren Tori Voller, Greg (Christen) Voller, Roni Voller (Braeden Seifert-Bulat), Riley O’Neill, Keely O’Neill, and Morgan DeRaad; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren Brandi (Bryan) Schave, Logan, Addison, and Alexis; Donny O’Neill; and Max DeRaad (Santana Johnson), Aryah, Thea, and Luca; siblings Emma Ogdahl, David (Maxine) Heinrich, Arthur (Lois) Heinrich, and Eva June (Leonard) Busse; sisters-in-law Carol Heinrich and Alvina Voller; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband Andy; parents Jacob and Lena Heinrich; brother Edwin Heinrich; sister Ruby Wharton; brother-in-law Marvin Ogdahl; brothers- and sisters-in-law Helen and Sylvester Hulm, Margaret and Alois Baumgartner, Bertha Voller, Tony and Belle Voller, Artie and Rose Voller, Hilda and Eddie Hager, Willie Voller, and Joe and Cecelia Voller; and nephew Delbert Ogdahl.
