Funeral services for Shirley Gray Eagle, 69, of Mobridge were held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the St. James Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Burial was in the Red Scaffold Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Shirley passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Shirley Ann Gray Eagle (Mutchler) was born on July 14, 1956 at Old Cheyenne Agency.
In her younger years, she pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating herself to the wellbeing of others. Her passion for caregiving continued when she lived in Denver, CO, where she found fulfillment working in home health care.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures— working crossword puzzles or trying her luck at the casino. She loved to travel and especially cherished time spent with her dog Rip. Above all else, Shirley treasured moments shared with her children and their families. Whether cooking for a gathering or visiting with relatives near and far, she brought warmth to every occasion.
She was the proud mother of six children: Mary Jo Mutchler (Nathan Scott), Memory Cook (Sherry Powers), Melanie Traversie (Sebastian Rosas), Damon Gray Eagle, Dayton Gray Eagle, and Daniel Gray Eagle (Danielle Steele). Her legacy lives on through her 26 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren. She also leaves her partner, Eugene Clifford.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and VC Parson; Gary Blue Arm; her sister Mary Scrivener: and her brother Joe Roberts.
