Funeral services for Raymond “Red” Fuhrer, 99, of Mobridge and formerly of Isabel were held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Raymond passed away Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Raymond “Red” Fuhrer was born to Albert and Emma (Korb) Fuhrer on October 21, 1925. He attended school in Isabel. He married Edna Badure in 1945. Red served in the Army during World War II. He was stationed in Manila, Philippines.
They lived on the family farm near Isabel until they moved to Mobridge in the early 1950’s where Raymond worked construction.
He worked for the SD Dept. of Transportation from 1959 until his retirement in 1987 On January 3, 1970 Raymond married Lucille Flemmer. Lucille passed away in July 2016. They were married for 46 years. Red then moved to Prairie Sunset Village in Mobridge where he made many friends with staff and residents.
Raymond is survived by his children, Stella Bertsch, Parnell (Sandy) Fuhrer, and Robin (Jean) Fuhrer; brother-in-law Larry Flemmer; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fuhrer; brothers Leonard, Gilbert, Floyd and Frank Fuhrer; and sisters Helen Bertsch, Dora Christiansen, and Martha Waddell.
