Milton J. Jeffries, 61, of Eagle Butte made his journey to the spirit world on Friday, July 25, 2025, near Hurdsfield, ND, due to an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at C-EB Auditorium, Eagle Butte. Burial followed in the Eagle Butte Cemetery.
Milton is survived by brothers: Mahlon Jeffries and Waylon Jeffries; sisters: Cathy Jeffries, Karen Jeffries (Ken Birkeland,) Della Jeffries (Cyril Martinmaas), Debbie Jeffries, Lonnie Jeffries (Michael Ball), and Raylene Marshall (Hunka sister); kids: Amanda LeBeau-Lewis, Thane Jeffries, Austin Jeffries, Nikki Jeffries, and Clay Jeffries; and grandchildren.
Milton grew up in Dupree and graduated from Eagle Butte. He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, horseshoes, corn hole, and darts. Also, he loved to fish and hunt. He was good at almost everything he did. He traveled everywhere for all the sports he enjoyed and won a lot of awards doing what he loved.
He was a tribal program director for many years, a valued heavy equipment operator for the government, maintaining many miles of tribal roadways. He played softball for many seasons with the team Prairie Phoenix, which won many championships. In 2000, he was a SD State Dart Team Champion in the A division.
Milton was preceded in death by his mother Corrine White Weasel-Janis; father Frank Jeffries; grandparents Oscar and Ester (Ward) White Weasel, Mahlon Oscar Jeffries and Jenny (Drury) Jeffries; uncles Timothy White Weasel and Louie White Weasel; and nephews Kyle Jeffries, Wade Jeffries, Quentin LeCompte, and Kelly Gene Clown.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
