Funeral services for Jalen Jordan Wells, 18, of Eagle Butte were held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte.
Jalen passed away on July 23, 2022 at the Eagle Butte IHS. Oster Funeral Home of Eagle Butte was in charge of arrangements.
Jalen Jordan Wells was born on August 30, 2003 at Rapid City Regional Hospital to Stephanie Lawrence and Kenneth Wells.
He was a force and had the power to inspire those around him to be their best versions of themselves. This was his motivation for establishing the Visualantes and bringing together the Fonzoli family. Music was a very big part of his life. Jalen has performed at multiple music events with confidence and a contagious energy. Each of these events were for a charitable cause, raising awareness, or bringing together our youth in a positive environment.
Jalen is survived by one daughter, Nyla Mei Hale of Eagle Butte; mother, Stephanie Lawrence of Eagle Butte; one sister, Miranda Marshall of Eagle Butte; three brothers, Andre’ Lawrence (Cora), Darrius Wells (Taylor Short Bull), and Christoph Wells, all of Eagle Butte; father, Kenneth Wells of Chicago, IL; maternal grandparents, Paul and Jolene Lawrence of Eagle Butte; greatgrandmother, Marion LeCompte of Rapid City; nephews Kobe
Marshall and Artemis Rencountre and nieces Athena Marshall, Paulina Marshall, Aura Rencountre, and Rylee Lawrence; uncles Bryan (Diana) Lawrence, Zachary Shirley and Gregory Shirley; aunts Andel (John) Van Der Westhuizen, Tamara (Marc) Carthen, AJ Waters; cousins, Alexander Carthen, Yutona Lawrence, Robert Lawrence, Thayden Lawrence, Clarence Lawrence, Jackson Lawrence, Alia Lawrence, and Adii Van Der Westhuizen.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Arvetta Shirley of Duncanville, TX and paternal grandfather Charles Wells of Indianapolis, IN.
