Hollie Kuhn

December 25, 1958 – April 29, 2025

Hollie Kuhn, 66, of Sioux Falls passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at the George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Hollie Gail Meyer, daughter of Gary and Judith (Hollopeter) Meyer, was born December 25, 1958, in Watertown. Throughout her childhood, the Meyer family moved around Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Rockford, Illinois. Hollie graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford and later attended Nettleton Career College in Sioux Falls, where she studied medical assisting, knowledge she would later use to correct the diagnoses on medical TV shows.

She may not have had the best golf swing, but she managed to hit a holein- one on the driving range meeting the love of her life, Brenda Kuhn. They were united in marriage on July 5, 1996, and enjoyed 29 love-filled years, living together in Madison for 11 years before moving to Sioux Falls in 2007. A skilled homemaker with an eye for interior design, Hollie worked in property management for many years and later dedicated her time to the Home Décor department at Lowe’s. If there was an award for the best cook with the worst baking skills, she would have won it. She didn’t need a cookbook when the first ingredient is always a melted stick of butter.

She was an active member of Westside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and the Jaycees in Madison. An accomplished seamstress, Hollie loved to sew dresses and costumes for various occasions. A social butterfly, She loved attending parties, social outings, and Sioux Falls Skyforce and Stampede games with Brenda and her kids. She was once lucky enough to take not one, not two, but three baseballs to the head in a single Canaries game while she was busy socializing.

Hollie was a doting, selfless mom, and she always did her best to create positive childhood experiences for her kids. Her heart was huge and she spread her love through her loving family. She had a soft spot for animals and loved fostering any and all furry friends who needed it. She was the best bad dancer you’d ever meet and lived her best life with the car windows rolled down and the music cranked up. She will be remembered for her silly, bubbly, effervescent personality and endlessly quotable “Hollie-isms.”

Left to cherish her memory are her wife, Brenda Kuhn of Sioux Falls; mother, Judith Meyer of Sioux Falls; mother and father-in-law, Barb and Bob Kuhn of Timber Lake; sons Derek (Ryan) Bird of Texas, Garrett (Elizabeth) Bird of Illinois, Adam (Chelsea) Bird of Illinois, Brett (Cassi) Bird of Illinois, and Drew Jones of Brookings; daughters Marli (Seth) Sayler of Brookings and Annie (Michael) Tschetter of Sioux Falls; twelve beloved grandchildren; siblings, Lee (Rose) Meyer of Colton, Clay (Amy) Meyer of Sioux Falls, Wendy Wagner of Chandler, AZ, Clint (Deborah) Meyer of Spearfish, Travis (Debbie) Meyer of Sioux Falls; and brother-in-law, Rob (Ronda) Kuhn of Timber Lake; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and countless cherished pets. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Meyer.
