Gerald William Herman

July 30, 1946 – May 25, 2024

Gerald William Herman, known affectionately as “Gerry,” passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 77.

He was born on July 30, 1946, in Timber Lake to Alvin and Minerva (VanderMark) Herman, and most recently resided in Brigham City, UT. He graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1965.

Gerry was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Air Force, where he dedicated his life to serving his country. After retiring from the military, he remained active in his community and was involved in various organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Diocese.

In his free time, Gerry enjoyed camping, cooking, volunteering with the VFW, hunting, and fishing. He had a passion for the outdoors and cherished the moments spent in nature.

Gerry married Barbara G. Pella on October 1, 1971, and they were blessed with two daughters, Wendy (Steve) Simpson of Brigham City and Loreen Herman of Midvale, UT.

He was a loving grandfather to Audrey, Olivia, Vanny (Atira), and Robert as well as a proud great-grandfather to Manuel. Gerry is survived by his sister Kathy (Dennis) Bresee of Moorhead, MN and brother Jay (Audrey) Herman of Mandan, ND as well as many nieces and nephews.

Known for his kind heart and willingness to help others, Gerry impacted the lives of many. Even after his passing, members of the local community have reached out, sharing stories of how he helped restore their military awards and honors. Gerry will be remembered as a great man who loved his country and made a difference in the lives of those around him. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him.
