Dale Hollenbeck, 89, of McClusky, ND died Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services were held at the Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky on December 22, 2025.
Dale was born on August 23, 1936, in Mobridge to Clay and Dorothy (Brown) Hollenbeck. He grew up on the Hollenback ranch near Trail City and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1954.
He married Helen Dodge on June 4, 1958, in Wenatchee, WA. They lived there and he worked for dairy farmers in the area. Later they moved to Trail City where he built stock dams for area ranchers with his own equipment. He later worked for a local rancher.
They moved to McClusky in 1971 and began a dairy operation. Dale retired in 2002 but continued to make trips to his son’s farm and helped where he could.
Dale was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church; McClusky Senior Citizens, where he enjoyed playing cards; and Central Dakota Squares.
He was very involved in his children’s 4-H and FFA projects. Dale continued being involved with his grandchildren’s activities.
Dale is survived by his wife, Helen of McClusky; sons Rex (Lori) of McClusky and Alden (Kim) of Velva, ND; daughter Jan Schmidt of McClusky; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Hollenbeck of Trail City, Gordon Hollenbeck of Rapid City, and Donald Hollenbeck of Trail City.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Glenda Baker; son Jess Hollenbeck; granddaughter Helen Beth Goben; sister Edith; and brothers Henry “Bud”, Victor “Vic”, and Lawrence “Pink”.
Arrangements were with Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky.
