Curtis John Rost

Curtis John Rost was born in Mobridge to John and Violet Rost. He had an older brother Ken, a younger brother Denver and younger sister Marcia.

While working road construction in Douglas, WY he met and married the love his life, Marilyn. Married for 51 years, they have two children, Bo born in 1976 and Tara born in 1979.

They moved to Ellensburg, WA in 1984. Curtis attended Central Washington University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in geology and environmental sciences and a minor in psychology. He retired from CWU as the head of shipping and receiving in 2010.

Curtis was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved music his whole life and was part of the family band. Curtis and Marilyn enjoyed dancing every weekend at the American Legion for the last 19 years. Curtis made a friend in everyone he met and was a professional at “dad jokes.”

Curtis was preceded in death by his father John, brother Kenny, and brother Denver.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; his son Bo (Laurie); daughter Tara; granddaughters Hayley and Camille; sister Marcia Maher; and his mother Violet Rost.
