Asa Charles Crow

Asa Charles Crow, 59, of Eagle Butte passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Cheyenne River Health Center in Eagle Butte.

Funeral services were on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Pioneer Hall, Dupree. Burial followed in the Dupree City Cemetery.

Asa Charles Crow was born on December 27, 1965 to Lawrence R. Crow Jr. and Betty (Clown) Crow at the IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte. He grew up in the Dupree area, nine miles west of Red Elm.

Asa also lived in the On The Tree area with his maternal grandmother, Lucille Young Black Dog.

While in school, Asa participated in football, basketball, and golf. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, listening to music, and laughing and joking with everyone.

He also took an interest in John Finn’s karate class, attending with his four cousins: Stephen and Andy Brings Plenty, and Reno and Gino Clown. Through his dedication, Asa earned a brown belt.

Asa worked at the elderly manor in Eagle Butte, assisting elders with their daily routines.

Asa is survived by his granddaughters: Roy’L Pearl Hollow Horn and Morning Star Crow; brother Kirk Crow; sisters Tammy and Lolly Crow; nieces Frankee, Sabra, Joni, Karyne, and JoRae Veit; Bo-Koo and Brenna Crow, and Koran Lara, Mary Barse, and Heidi White Tail; and nephews Colt and Roy Veit, Kirk Crow Jr., Brett Price, Melvin Price, Matthew Goodsell, Shawn Schweitzer, Lewis White Magpie, and Xavier James.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: James and Anna (Red Bird) Clown, Lawrence Crow Sr. and Lucille (Young) Madison; father, Lawrence Rufus Crow Jr.; mother, Betty Lou (Clown) Crow; brothers Lou James and Lawrence Rufus III; sister Brenda Veit; aunts Alma, Carol, Mary, Pat and Phoebe Clown, Mary Jane Lafferty, and Janice and Georgianne Madison; and uncles True Sr., Richard, Carlin, Stuart, and Larry Clown, and Arnold Madison.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
