August 1, 1932 – February 22, 2026______________

Alice Evans, 93, of Belle Fourche died Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Belle Estate Senior Living Center in Belle Fourche.

Her funeral service was held February 26, 2026 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment was at Pine Slope Cemetery.

Alice was born on August 1, 1932 and grew up on the family farm 17 miles north of Midland, the youngest of two children born to John Jeffery and Anna (Wolff) Willoughby. She attended grade school in rural Haakon County and graduated from Midland High School in 1950.

On August 27, 1950 Alice was united in marriage to George Evans in Midland. They made their home on the So Dak Ranch where George was employed. Later they moved into Hayes when George accepted a job with the SD Highway Department. In 1961 George was promoted and they relocated to Isabel. After his retirement in 1992 they moved to Belle Fourche. In 2019 they moved into Belle Estate Assisted Living. After George passed away in 2021, Alice returned to their home in Belle Fourche where she lived independently until the last few months.

Alice’s greatest joy was taking care of her family and home. Tooling candles for Hel-Mar Industries in Isabel was her first place of employment. She enjoyed working with her hands and creating beautiful candles. Next, she became a cook at the Isabel School and loved greeting all the kids as they came through the lunch line. After a back injury which led to retirement, she joined her daughter Valerie at Mom & Me, a home-based crafting business.

Alice was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and working outside with her flowers and garden.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Valerie (Al) Garr of Belle Fourche; grandson Tigh Garr of Belle Fourche; great-grandson Preston Garr of Rapid City; sisters-in-law Betty Shannon of Sturgis and Verona Evans of Rapid City; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Robert L. Evans; daughter Constance Marie; grandson Harvey Albert Garr, Jr.; brother Wallace Willoughby; sisters-in-law Jean Telford and Irene Willoughby; and brothers-in-law Robert Evans, Gene Telford, and Philip Shannon.
