September 9, 1981 – January 26, 2026 ____________

A Celebration of Life service for Leasha Ledawn Red Bear, 44, of Eagle Butte was on January 30, 2026, at the Eagle Butte Bingo Hall. Leasha passed away January 26, 2026, at the IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte.

She will be remembered for her bright smile, caring nature, and the many lives she touched.

Born to Rolanda Red Bear, Leasha came into the world facing medical challenges, including a heart condition. Her maternal grandmother, Loretta Red Bear, was a guiding figure in her early life. Due to Rolanda’s health, Leasha was lovingly adopted by the Buller family and raised in Wyoming alongside her brothers and sisters. Her adopted name was Sara Buller.

At 17, Leasha “Sara” moved back to Eagle Butte in hopes of reconnecting with her biological family. During her stay with the Red Bear family, she formed meaningful relationships with her grandmother, mother, and siblings. Leasha was one of 11 siblings; she mourned the passing of her sister Angela at birth and cherished her connections with Michael Yates (her oldest brother), Terrance Handboy, Toni Handboy, Buffy Handboy, Kimberly Roberts, Brittney Roberts, Kyle Traversie, Brandon Red Bear, and Lance Red Bear.

She built a rich network of friends in the Rapid City area, always described as someone who brought joy and comfort to those around her. She shared a special friendship with Marlene Greene. Leasha’s kindness, sense of humor, and protective spirit made everyone feel safe and valued. No matter the challenges she faced, she was known for making the best of every day.

Leasha faced ongoing health issues and was scheduled for heart surgery, but her medical complications ultimately led to her passing. Throughout her time at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, she brought laughter and warmth to those around her.
