Shaunna Rae Marrowbone-Maldacker, 45, of Eagle Butte passed away December 2, 2025 in Portland, OR.
Funeral services were held December 13, 2025, at the Eagle Butte Bingo Hall. Burial was at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cemetery in Thunder Butte under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Shaunna was born on August 10, 1980, to Tyrone Marowbone-Little Hawk and Corrine Blue Coat at Eagle Butte. She spent her childhood at Iron Lightning and attended schools at Dupree, McLaughlin, and Pierre and graduated from Yorktown High School in New York. She participated in basketball and volleyball.
Shaunna enlisted in the US Army. She completed basic training at Fort Jackson, SC in 2006.
Her hobbies were reading, arts and crafts, and watching scary movies. She remembered as a child, her “Lala” Grandpa Whitley telling her Lakota stories. She lived in South Dakota, New York, Minnesota and Colorado. Shaunna worked part-time at the CRST Veterans Food Pantry in Eagle Butte. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen. She was proud of being a descendant of Lakota warrior, Crazy Horse-“Tashunke Witko”, “Little Hawk” Tiospaye.
Shaunna is survived by her sons, Aiden Maldacker of Kaneohe, HI, Zachary Maldacker of Killington, VT, Jerrell Maldacker of Mankato, MN, Ian Lockwood of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Kerys Kaufmann of Montgomery, MN; father Tyrone Little Hawk of Eagle Butte; mother Corrine Blue Coat of Red Wing, MN; brothers Cedric Marrowbone of Sioux Falls, Tyrell Maldacker of Baltimore, MD, sisters Tonya Maldacker of Los Angeles, CA and Samantha Maldacker of Yonkers, NY; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Samuel Blue Coat Sr. and Bernice Blue Coat; uncle Samuel Blue Coat Jr.; aunts Aldina Blue Coat-Provancial and Shirley Blue Coat; paternal grandparents Whitley Marrowbone-Little Hawk, and Beatrice J. Little Dog; uncles Neil Harley Little Hawk, Ralph Marrowbone, and Winfield “Amos” Marrowbone; aunts Vera Marrowbone, Althea Marrowbone-Launreaux, Lynne Clown, and Kayla Marrowbone; brothers Kyle Wade Marrowbone-Maldacker, and Tyrone Marrowbone Jr.; and cousins Meredith, Merrilee, and Merle Jr. Marrowbone.
