Evelyn passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at West River Health Services in Hettinger, ND.

Evelyn Joyce (Anderson) Bierman was born in Dupree to Edna and Berhard Anderson on November 5, 1931. She attended Dewey Co. Country School (O’Donnell) until 6th grade and finished grade school and high school in Dupree, graduating in 1949.

Evelyn and her classmate and friend, Wanda Vance Dexheimer, attended National School of Business in Rapid City for a year and a half and stayed and worked in Rapid City. She also kept in contact with her close friend, Joan Jewett.

Evelyn worked for Dusek until returning to Dupree when her brother, Roy Anderson, joined the army. She got a job in the Abstract Office and did outside shorthand work, etc. for the Kerr McGee Oil Co.

She met Ronald Bierman of Isabel at a dance. They married in Dupree on June 24, 1954. Ronald and Evelyn made their home on a ranch near Isabel until 2024, where they raised cows, sheep, horses and one of Evelyn’s favorite animals, cats. Evelyn was always there to help Ronald even at the expense of losing the tip of her finger, breaking her right hip and right hand plus many more adventures. To this union, three children were born: Gene, Bart and Sue.

Evelyn devoted her life to the Lord and her family. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. Evelyn served on many committees at the church such as Ladies Aid, was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Sheep Growers Association, Community Club, and numerous other organizations. She was always willing to give a helping hand.

Evelyn enjoyed her family, flowers, cats and a healthy gardening competition against Ronald. She was an amazing canner and cook. No one ever left her table hungry. She is known for her pickles, kuchens, pies and her holiday tradition of warm apple cider and the best, unique heart felt gifts.

In 2024 both Ronald and Evelyn entered Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon. In the last year, Evelyn had the time to join her friends, Bernice, Rosemary and the other Evelyn, in crafts, games and Bingo (her prizes outgrew her room).

Honored to have been a part of her life are sons Gene (Becky) Bierman and Bart (Lavon) Bierman; daughter Sue (Dan) Kokesh; grandchildren Rory Bierman, Lisa (Robert) Martin, Samantha (Blake) Hunter, Serena (Ty) Lorenz, and Natalie (Shawn) Hayes; 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Roy Anderson, who was her best friend.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald, her parents and grandson, Bruce Bierman.

(Gene Bierman’s address is HC 68 Box 3, Glad Valley, SD 57644.)
