January 22, 1932 – September 26, 2025

Funeral services with full military honors were held November 4, 2025, at the VA National Cemetery in Roseburg, OR for Clarence Bernard Ochsner, formerly of Glad Valley. Mr. Ochsner died September 26, 2025.

Clarence Ochsner was born in Glad Valley on January 22, 1932, the youngest of 10 children and raised on the family farm near Isabel. He attended college in Chillicothe, MO where he met his wife, Darlene, while in line to see a movie on Halloween night. They married less than a year later on October 26 and the marriage lasted 70 years until Darlene passed away in February 2022.

Clarence joined the Air Force in May 1952 and served until February 1956. He served his tour of duty in Okinawa as administrator for the Base Commander. He had the rank of Staff Sergeant when he received his honorable discharge.

As a civilian, he worked in accounting, Human Resources, administration and customer service. He worked with his sister for a few years in a wedding catering business because he had a gift for decorating and design.

After retiring he enjoyed woodworking, making quality custom pieces for family and friends. During the year he made wooden cars and trucks out of scrap wood and donated them to the Marines Toys for Tots program at holiday time.

Clarence is survived by three children, Paul (Carol), David and Marie (Tom); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, and daughter, Jayne.
