Mary L. Dennis, 81, of Eagle Butte passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at Monument Health, Rapid City.
Funeral services were on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial followed in Ascension Episcopal Cemetery, Blackfoot.
Mary Louise Pay Pay was born December 7, 1943 at Old Cheyenne Agency to Fred and Christine (Pretty Bear) Pay Pay.
Mary and Doyle Dennis crossed paths on a “night out” in Lantry. They married on December 15, 1971. Together they had six children.
Doyle and Mary lived at their ranch at Faith, and at Eagle Butte and many other places.
Mary loved video games, fishing with Doyle and dancing to old-time country music.
Mary was filled with quiet strength and deep wisdom. She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother. She lived a full life with her husband and children by her side to the very end.
Mary is survived by her husband Doyle J. Dennis; her children: Jesse (Kristan) Dennis of Eagle Butte, Christine (Joe) Martindale of Isabel, David (Melissa) Dennis of Eagle Butte, Rosie Dennis (Dale Erhart) of Eagle Butte, Melissa Dennis (John Schad Sr.) of Eagle Butte, and Michael Dennis (Nina Good House) of Eagle Butte; brother-in-law James Dennis of Sheridan, WY; sisters-inlaw Teresa (Norman) Allen and Sarah (Dennis) Popp; grandchildren Traci, Mercedes, Tichina, Kristian, Jessica, Shyanne, Roper, Ryder, Lynette, Charlotte, Lane, Stormi, Stetson, Michael, Samantha, Frank, Matthew, Carl, Theola, Teesha, Jody, Weston, Braxton, Marri, John Jr., Tyona, Jaecelle, Hayzlei, Dahlet, Ridge, Creighton, and Riggin; and greatgrandchildren Lillian, Emma, Lettie, Quentin, Chris, Dayson, Cairo, Jordy, Aryella, Lilly, Lilla, Dreyson, Monte, Tucker, John, Sonny, Theodore, Psalms, Jayse, Thomas, Sebastian, Raymond, Felisheana, Ka’Myra, Miranda, Elena, Juliana, and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Harry Ducheneaux, Betty Pay Pay, and Dora Garcia; brothers Nelson, Clarence, and Amos Pay Pay; sisters-in-law Rose Pay Pay, Mary Pat Isenhower, and Marlene Charger; brother-in-law Kevin Dennis; and many other relatives.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
