Kasmer “Capp” Holzer, 92, of Rapid City and formerly of Trail City passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 at Monument Hospice Home in Rapid City.
Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Our Lady of the Black Hills Catholic Church in Piedmont, with graveside services at Black Hills National Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City was in charge of arrangements.
Kasmer was born June 5, 1933, to John and Johanna Holzer at Trail City, the 15th of 16 children. He attended school through 8th grade at a country school near their farm. He was inducted into the Army in November 1953 and was honorably discharged in November 1955.
Capp shared his life with Arlene Keller Holzer, his wife of 69 years. Together, they raised six children on their farm north of Trail City. He had purchased his father’s farm, which has now been in the family for 100 years.
In 1969 at age 36, he was selected as Outstanding Young Farmer for his region. When Capp and Arlene retired from the farm, they spent 23 winters in Arizona, making new friends, playing tennis and enjoying the sunshine. They moved from the farm in 2006 and relocated to Summerset. In 2025, they joined the community of Echo Ridge in Rapid City.
Capp was a faith-filled man who loved his family above all else. He was a father at heart and always treasured time with his children and grandchildren. He has left them with many wonderful memories to cherish.
Eternally blessed and grateful for having shared Kasmer’s life are his wife, Arlene; his children Tim (Tammy) Holzer of Arlington, sonin- law, Jim Rohl of Aberdeen, Colleen (Tim) Keller of McLaughlin, Gary (Roxanne) Holzer of Rapid City, Pat (Brenda) Holzer of Sioux Falls and Scott (Tanya) Holzer of Aberdeen; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ida Holzer of Mobridge.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Cheri Rohl, granddaughter Brittany Holzer, his parents and 14 siblings.
