Amanda Marie White Eagle Begay (Winyan Wan Owangwaste Na Cante Wastelo-Beautiful Woman with a Good Heart), 39, entered the Spirit World on June 28, 2025, at her home in Rapid City.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Church of God in LaPlant. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at LaPlant.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
Amanda was born on June 1, 1986 to Mary Blue Arm and Vearl White Eagle, Sr. in Eagle Butte. Her grandparents are Estherlene and Carideo Low Dog and Pearl and Jake White Eagle.
Amanda lived in Thunder Butte, Iron Lightning, Dupree, Green Grass, Eagle Butte and finally Rapid City.
She attended Job Corps in Box Elder where she completed her course and became a certified carpenter. She achieved her GED and her high school diploma within three months. When she returned to Eagle Butte, she was hired to work at the new hospital where she met Anthony Begay. She then moved back to Rapid City with Anthony.
Amanda started her job with housekeeping at a nursing home then moved on to work at Wal-Mart. Amanda loved it when they took vacations every year with her family. She and Tony were married on August June 1, 1986 – June 28, 2025

Amanda is survived by her mother, Mary Blue Arm of Rapid City; husband, Anthony Begay and daughters, La’loni and Leah Begay of Rapid City; siblings: Guy (Tanya) Running Hawk of Gordon, NE, Michael Brave Heart of Sioux Falls, Vearl (Tiffany) White Eagle, Jr. of Eagle Butte, and Cecelia White Eagle of Rapid City; and many nephews, nieces, one granddaughter, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Estherlene and Carideo Low Dog and Pearl and Jake White Eagle; father Vearl White Eagle, Sr.; uncles Ramond White Eagle, Norman, Neal and Andrew Blue Arm; and aunts Dawn White Eagle and Norma Blue Arm.
