September 2, 1932 – March 8, 2025
Robert Russell Hare passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls on March 8, 2025.
Robert was born on September 2, 1932 in McIntosh to Charles and Della (Rice) Hare. He attended Walker Elementary School and McIntosh High School. He played and lettered in football and was voted Homecoming King. He graduated from High School in May of 1951.
During a trip to Mobridge he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Moser. They married on May 29, 1954 in the St. James Episcopal Church in Mobridge.
Robert and Shirley lived on the family farm in Walker.
In 1957 they moved to Mobridge and Robert went to work for Kuiper’s Construction Company, and later on as the construction business slowed down he went to work for the Phillips 66 gas station. Robert had the opportunity to lease his own Apco Station in Huron so Robert, Shirley and their daughters moved to Huron. In 1968 Robert moved his family back to Mobridge and leased the Apco station while working part-time for the postal service. Eventually Robert started managing Bob’s Total Gas Station full-time.
At Mobridge Robert was an avid sports fan and attended all types of sports events, especially those that his children participated in. He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Missouri River and Oahe Reservoir. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends, especially the yearly camping trips to Foster Bay.
Robert was a lifetime member of the Royal Order of the Moose Lodge.
In 2009 Robert and Shirley moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to family. He continued his love of sports and enjoyed going to all of his greatgrandkids’ sporting events and special functions.
He leaves behind his daughters, Kathy (Tate) Kuegler of Grand Junction, CO, Jackie Tenbroek of Conifer, CO and Cindy (Clyde) Mittleider of Sioux Falls; grandchildren Stacy (Richard) Visker, Alicia Tenbroek, Ryan (Sabrina) Bussard, Dustin (Sarah) Mittleider, and Kyle (Katherine) Kuegler; great-grandchildren Kylie, Brinley, Anna, Taylor, Kacey, Jayde, Carson, Tyler, Aspen; and many nieces and nephews.
