Timber Lake City Board reviews Open Meeting Laws

At the July 9 meeting of the Timber Lake City Board, the city’s attorney, Shane Penfield, reviewed South Dakota’s laws on open meetings and open records.An annual review of the laws is now required for public bodies as a result of a law passed by the 2025 Legislature.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission held their July meeting at the NFAA Easton Archery Center in Yankton, July 10-11.WILDLIFE PROPOSALS Aquatic Invasive SpeciesThe Commission proposed to add Prussian Carp to the Aquatic Invasive Species list.

Artists with gather at Sea of Grass 10th Anniversary Art Show

The Timber Lake and Area Historical Society and Museum will host the Sea of Grass 10th Anniversary Art Show and Sale on Saturday, July 26. Visitors are invited to meet the artists and view a wide variety of art. The event coincides with Timber Lake’s Days of 1910 Celebration.

Registration for prairie dog control program is Aug. 1

The South Dakota Departments of Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) and Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) want to remind South Dakota landowners to register for assistance with prairie dog encroachment. The deadline for enrollment is August 15.

Area students on BSC honor list

Bismarck State College named local students, Tye Boldt of Isabel, Mariah Halfred of Eagle Butte, Coy Hinsz of McLaughlin and Sonni Maher of Morristown to the Spring 2025 President’s Honor Roll list. They maintained 4.00 GPA while enrolled in at least 12 semester hours of classes.

SDSU announces spring 2025 graduation list

South Dakota State University in Brookings announced their list of the spring 2025 graduates.Local students include: Reese Ganje of Eagle Butte, Alberta Miner of Eagle Butte, and Raelyn Geigle of McIntosh.
