Former Timber Lake resident drowns on Lake Oahe

A Hill City man, formerly of Timber Lake, died and a Gettysburg man is charged with boating while intoxicated after an incident last Friday, Nov. 14, on Lake Oahe in Potter County.According to information provided by the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, a 9-1-1 call came around 4 p.m.
Chuck and Hanna Schmidt with their three children - Fallon, Henley and Levi - were involved in a serious automobile accident while on their way to church on Oct. 26. Levi sustained the most serious injuries and had to be lifeflighted to Bismarck and was later moved to Minneapolis. A fund to assist the Schmidt family with travel and medical costs has been established at the Dacotah Bank in Lemmon.

Benefit account set up for Schmidt family after auto accident

A benefit fund has been established at Dacotah Bank in Lemmon for the Chuck and Hanna Schmidt family of rural Keldron after all five family members were injured in an automobile accident on Oct. 26.Chuck Schmidt is a three-time NFR qualifier and Hanna competes in breakaway roping.

Dupree School celebrates veterans

The annual Dupree School Veterans Day program was once again wonderfully patriotic as it recognized and showed appreciation for veterans and their service to the USA. The event opened and closed with performances from the Wakinyan Maza Drum Group.

Women tell stories of their veteran fathers

A trio of South Dakota women presented “Daddies Dreams” at the Timber Lake School on Veterans Day, November 11. Middle school and high school students attended, as well as the public.
