DOI introduces plan for training Native wildland firefighters

The Department of the Interior announced a new partnership Monday between the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Education aimed at preparing Native students for careers in wildland firefighting, strengthening the workforce while creating school-to-career pathways for tribal youth.

Students in Mrs. Keller’s kindergarten class enjoyed Super Bowl activities in their classroom. They made and graphed predictions and talked about being a good sport. They brought their game face when they competed in a Super Bowl of word reading. Of course, the game ended in a tie!

State okays large wind farm to be built near Philip

The Public Utilities Commission has granted a permit to Philip Wind Partners LLC to build a wind turbine farm in Haakon County which will be the largest in the state.The company behind the project said it will span 68,300 acres — that’s over 100 square miles — and generate 333 megawatts of energy.

Enright, Seiler receive TL School Awards for 2025-26

Nancy Enright was named Timber Lake Teacher of the Year at a ceremony attended by K-12 students and staff on Wednesday, February 11. And Donna Seiler was presented with the Missy Stover Support Staff Member of the Year award on Monday, February 16.
