Work underway on Hwy. 12, Hwy. 1806

Work began Monday, April 13, on U.S. Highway 12 from Mobridge west approximately 15 miles and on S.D. Highway 1806 both north and south of Highway 12. The Highway 12 project will primarily involve pipe and guardrail corner improvements on the shoulders of the highway.

Fifteen seniors to be honored at NAEC ceremony

Tuffy Thompson will be the guest speaker at the Native American Education Committee’s graduation honoring ceremony on Wednesday, April 22. Fifteen seniors will be honored.The program will begin at 6 p.m. in the school theater.

DHS holding Luau Prom

By Patty PeacockDupree High School students need to bring out the flowers and grass skirt dancing moves because this year their prom is going to be a Hawaiian Luau theme.Prom will be held on Saturday, April 25 in the Dupree High School gym. Professional photos of the couples will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Fifty dolls, all created by hand by Mary Dorsey in recognition of Isabel’s Golden Jubilee in 1986, are currently on display in the Isabel Community Center after being in storage for decades. Dorsey actually made two of each doll with one of each pair auctioned during the Jubilee celebration.

In 1986, Isabel celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. As a part of the celebration, Mary Dorsey made 50 dolls. They are now on display at the Isabel Community Center for people to enjoy.Mary made twin dolls for each letter of the alphabet.

Nationwide most farmers can’t afford fertilizer

An overwhelming majority of America’s farmers who responded to a nationwide survey say they cannot afford to purchase enough fertilizer to get them through the year. The percentage who pre-purchased fertilizer varies significantly by region.
